Yeah, I got hit by that plague. It's great when people run right up to you and you die because of it. I started to tell people to go to the left side merchant if you were sick. Suddenly, thoughts of leper colonies came to mind.
Oh, and the continuous shouts of "AIDS!" was a bit neausiating.
My understanding is that they did a hot fix on it the day it was causing trouble. But seein' people just standing there, spewing blood all over...
Y'know, I missed all that because I was on one of the new PVP/RP servers, so nobody was high enough level to get into that instance and catch it. Last I checked, after a week our highest level character was 23ish.
I think it's really interesting, though. In a game without scheduled game wide Events, we actually have our first Event. By accident. Cool.
I'd really like it if the NPCs conversation/plots/etc were adjusted to make reference to the incident after they get a handle on it. Have the town criers give you gossip on it. Introduce some new quests relating to it (finding a cure for an NPC, going after an NPC accused of spreading it etc). Update some of the books to refer to it. That kind of thing.
