Because, of course, privatization of jobs that, by definition, ought to be publically ran with oversight is what GAWD wants. It cuts down on corruption, don't you know? Or some bullshit like that.

Worse, they're privatising into a for-profit agency a function that *only makes money if they have something to sell that scares you* - so they have an incentive to have as many offenders listed in as lurid a way as possible, an incentive to add offenders as fast as possible, and NO incentive to remove offenders from the system, ever, or check the facts, ever.

And they're Americans selling fear, which means they're lazy, incompetent halfwits whose target audience are entirely lazy, incompetent halfwits.
