England's especially good for it, because there's a very stiff kind of humour about it. Ask them, and they'll tell you the history of where it came from, that it's a crazy superstiion, that they all have a good traditional laugh about it and they could stop any time they wanted to if it really mattered, but OH DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING DON'T BREAK THE RULES THAT'S JUST NOT DONE!
It's brilliant. It's the way all tradition should be.
