Bush's "unscripted conversation with real US troops" should probably have been called "scripted, rehearsed, practiced photo op with some real troops and some ringers". Also, they probably shouldn't have released the video of the rehearsal and stage direction to CNN. In retrospect, that might have damaged the effect they were trying for.
