Squinting at it a bit (because I'm a cynic, not to get a better view), it looks to me like the guy's a bit more in the foreground than the deer. I mean you gotta figure there's *something* going on there, since a deer would hardly just stand around. But look at his feet compared to where the deer's hooves are.

Or maybe it's just my perception.

Doesn't even look like a deer. More like an emu or a rhea. Maybe they raise various novelty livestock.

Mabey it is a hunters target he has... altered? for his own personal hunt. The weight would let him pick it up to that angle.
