Nov. 4th, 2005 12:08 pmTom DeLay's office memos explain the Republican strategy in a nutshell:
"The wackos get their information through the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees," "Simply put, we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them."

The constitutional amendment providing that marriage in this state consists only of the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting this state or a political subdivision of this state from creating or recognizing any legal status identical or similar to marriage.So.. they're banning recognising *any* status identical to marriage? Like, say, MARRIAGE?

In 1943, the current Queen of the Netherlands was born in exile, and needed to be born on Dutch soil to be a Dutch citizen - so Canada formally game them a maternity ward. This also means that the children who are born here of parents who immigrated here illegally are themselves American citizens with all the attendant benefits. (Personally I think anyone who wants to be here badly enough to risk getting shot, or dying in a panel truck or shipping container, ought to be allowed to stay, but that's just me.)

re: citizenship - how much more respect and value do you want than someone who's willing to get themselves killed trying to make sure their child is born in a country where they hope they'll have a better life? I think the illegal immigrants respect and value the law about citizenship more than the people who want to change it.
