It's not really funny if you haven't been following. The last panel, however, is meta-humour of the sort that makes me giggle.

On the death of Rosa Parks: "Now We Can Finally Put Civil Rights Behind Us"
"During today's service, America not only bade farewell to a seamstress from Alabama," Bush said at a special GOP fundraiser Monday evening, "America buried the idea of civil rights itself."

Bush added: "Today, that long-ago chapter of American history is slammed tightly shut, never to be reopened."

Also,

"The metal sign, or 'sign of the goat,' has all but lost its impact as a token of respectful recognition for something truly 'rocking' or 'metal,'" Supreme Metal Council president Terence "Geezer" Butler said. According to Butler, members are upset that their sacred gesture is being used to acknowledge and celebrate "favorable but clearly non-metal events."

"This man here, who invokes the sign merely to indicate his joy that his microwave popcorn is done: He is not metal," Nikki Sixx, Overlord Of Glam Metal Affairs, said. "We have it on good authority that he prefers the music of Tim McGraw and that the magic word of 'Zoso' has never passed his lips."

More charitable members, such as former Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, suggested that "a helpful list of guidelines could educate others, allowing them to distinguish between metal and non-metal occurrences." [ED: further proving that Mustaine is TOTALLY not metal.]

Jason Newstead.

Quit Metallica when they went insane.

Bassist for Voivod.

He can stay.

I stand corrected!

I totally stopped paying attention to Metallica when they went insane.

You're right. He can stay.

He quit Metallica when then went insane, which I can respect, but then he joined a band named after a clan elder from V:tM, so no, he has to go.

Don't get me wrong, I happen to ejoy having played V:tM as an RPG, and I have both V:tM Redemption and Bloodlines at home, and they're good games, but seriously!

Yeah, and what's with the Bible ripping off White Wolf for the character names of Caine and Methuselah? The fuck? Noncreative, much?

And Bowie. Who the fuck is David Bowie, to steal riffs from Vanilla Ice?

Sorry, but I can't say I've ever come across the term voivod outside of V:tM. While hitting google, I see it's used in slovakia as a term for miltary units and commanders of such. I'm betting they got the name from V:tM.

Try "Voivode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voivode)"

As in "Vlad Tepes, voivode of Wallachia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracula)"

If you haven't looked it up after that hint, a Voivode was a medieval Slavic warlord.

Voivod has made some great music. It may have come to an end, though, after Denis D'Amour passed away in August.

Lemmy with a pentagram and not an Iron Cross? No way.

They got his last name spelt right, though. Most people insert an 'n'.

They've all got pentagrams. It's a ceremonial thing, like Sandra Day O'Connor not showing her Hell's Angels tat in session.

How'd they actually get a Zebra?

Also, I like the idea of a helpful list of guidelines.

The Zebra Missionary Corps. They sent missionaries to the predators to try to form a mutual environment of trust and respect, so the predators would stop eating them.

No, really.

*These* crocs are just too incompetent to catch zebra who aren't incompetent, and there aren't very many of those left. Darwin is a harsh mistress.
