So.

After Pat Robertson threatened Disneyworld with destruction by hurricane for having "Gay Days", Disney has been untouched by hurricanes, but Pat Robertson's hometown got hit square on by a Cat 3.

The Boy Scouts Of America banned gays - and seven scouts and scout leaders died, this summer, in lightning strikes or electricity-related accidents.

Two Baptist preachers have died in the last few years in mid-sermon - one struck by lightning after saying that God should give him a sign if he was wrong, and the other electrocuted by the PA system when he tried to make a baptism into a multimedia spectacle.

And now I'm noting that during the filming of The Passion Of The Christ, a film that pointedly misses the *entire* point behind the gospels, the assistant director was struck by lightning twice and the actor playing Christ was struck once.

And yet, somehow, it's *GAYS* that God is supposed to hate?

It looks like the evidence is mounting for the conclusion that, in fact, God hates retarded fundamentalists.

It's unfortunate, if disaster strikes the 'enemy' - it's god's punishment, if disaster strikes the faithful, it's a random accident, or god is testing their faith. The sad part: they will never see it any other way...

I'm thoroughly convinced that if Jesus was reborn these days, he would be thoroughly disgusted with most of the religions set up in his name, if for no other reason than that they ignore most of his key teachings. Especially the fundies, which ignore the factoid that JC hung out with tax collectors, prostitutes, fishermen and others not in the upper/sanctimonious classes.

Wasn't that one incident, which *was* the PA thing and you headlined as 'struck by lightning'?

Nope. I did headline the PA guy as "struck by lightning", but there was a second one almost a year ago.

Just out of curiousity, what do you consider to be the entire point behind the gospel?

I don't know what [livejournal.com profile] theweaselking thinks, but I believe the point was supposed to be "died for our salvation," not "publicly extensively tortured for two hours on screen for our salvation"?

(Not Christian, therefore not quite clear on some of the concepts, here.)
