Having raised a orphan baby raccoon from this age (back in the 60s when it was still legal), I can say they are truly cute as they look here, and are waaaaay brighter than most animals.
My mom raised an orphan racoon again, in the 60s. The racoon and mom reached a compromise: The racoon spent the day attached to her head, and mom had less racoon paws grabbing at things and getting caught under the gas pedal etc.
