Judas Priest covering Johnny B Goode

(this narrowly beat out Skinny Puppy doing Tainted Love and Blind Guardian doing Mr Sandman. Yes, yes I *CAN* keep up the pattern of "modern band does classic rock" for months, if I feel like it.)

I'm a rabid metalhead. Blind Guardian are old favourites of mine - especially since they apparently have so much FUN with it and aren't afraid to make fun of themselves.

Alas, all I have and all I've ever heard from Blind Guardian is "Tommynockers". Which is good, but I wish I had more.

My personal fave is Ministry covering "Lay, Lady, Lay". Or Lords of the New Church's cover of "Like a Virgin".

Nice. I'll see those and raise you BiGod 20's "Like A Virgin" and Thyrfing's "Over The Hills And Far Away".

(Do you have the Ministry one? I don't.)

Just got this now. Awesome. I think I'll do the Thyrfing one as this week's Friday thing.

The above discussion about metal brings to mind about two weeks ago, listening to the CBC Radio 1 (canadian public radio, for you non-canuks), when they played Motorhead on As It Happens.

The two middle aged women hosting took a little while to recover from it.

Lady 1: "For our listeners just tuning in, you ARE listening to the CBC."

Lady 2: "What?"

Lady 1: "But yes, that was Motorhead, and I suppose they were singing Ace of Spades."

Lady 2: "What?"

Lady 1: "And now we'll break for the news."

Lady 2: "What?"

I just had a hell of a time trying to post in your journal. I had to sign in and verify I wasn't a robot like FIVE times before LJ would believe me.

I am not a robot! I am a free number!
