Canadian Government Fall Down, Go Boom.

Election most likely to happen mid-January.

Great news: I can now muckrake locally, since the parties are all going to actually have to reveal *details* of their platforms and not just coast on "general goals".

Unless the CPC has a sudden and completely uncharacteristic turn towards sanity, the incumbent government returning is the best of all possible options. Sad, that.

(Also, for you Americans, watch carefully. THIS is how you run an election. 36-day minimum, but more than 8 weeks of campaigning is completely unheard of. There's none of this "we're going to have to vote in a year and a half, better start campaigning now" bullshit here.)

Forcing an election at this time of year is idiotic. The NDP, Bloc and CPC garner no sympathy with this stunt. The Liberals are (sadly) the only game in town.

I really don't have a problem with an election right now.

It'll provide a nice change from the endless Christmas pap that's everywhere in December.

Mud-slinging and ill-will towards men, eh? You may have a point. A nice bit of acrimony as counterweight to the sacrosanct saccharine sweetness of Giftmas.
