"Baghdad Burning", the girl blogging from Iraq, is back

Well, not so much "back" as "the feed stopped updating a while back and I was afraid that she was dead. She's not, I just haven't seen her stuff for months."

not even related but I keep getting a phone call from this canada number 613-230-2890, does it look familiar to you? They never leave a message and I can never answer while at work. Or if I leave it in my purse and I never hear it. Just curious? thanks

Hmm. 613 is Eastern Ontario, and 230 is an Ottawa exchange. I don't know the number, though, offhand.

A quick Googling reveals that that's OpinionSearch, (http://www.computerconsulting.ca/phone_nums.htm) who are phonespammers. They've got a machine dialling numbers at random, and when someone picks up, it alerts an agent to come onto the line. They're probably hitting you repeatedly for the same reason email spammers hit you repeatedly: They bought your address from somebody.

They are scum.

Wish someone had given it to me five years ago when I walked out of the department in tears never to return.

Interesting point - wanting to say 'It's Dr actually' when asked if you're reserving a table as Mrs or Miss is not the best reason to subject yourself to a PhD.
