See, that first one really supports my argument about Tasers.

Lately in the media there's been some controversy about how "non lethal" tasers really are. I think that's garbage. Even if they do occasionally kill people, they still kill a hella lot less people than shooting them with guns does.

If that cop didn't have a Taser, his partner would have been shot with a gun. Isn't this an improvement? :D

At the same time, if you're not going to shoot somebody with a gun, you shouldn't hit them with a taser, either.

The argument isn't that they're "too lethal" and cops should use guns instead. It's that they're "too lethal" and cops shouldn't use them FRIVOLOUSLY, because they're not a sufficiently reliably non-lethal alternate for casual use, the way they often get used.

Norwegian police had a cool rule, that was recently determined to be illegal by the courts.

Every police officer who wanted to wield 'pepper spray' had to have it used on himself before being allowed to use it on others.

Do you think a 9 year old girl that was a bit unruly at school would be shot with guns, twice, to calm her down? 'Cause that's happened with tasers, multiple times. Cops seem to think they're sort of the equivalent of shooting a tranquilliser dart into the tiger before you venture into its cage.
