Date: 2005-12-08 06:32 pm (UTC)Lately in the media there's been some controversy about how "non lethal" tasers really are. I think that's garbage. Even if they do occasionally kill people, they still kill a hella lot less people than shooting them with guns does.
If that cop didn't have a Taser, his partner would have been shot with a gun. Isn't this an improvement? :D

Date: 2005-12-08 06:35 pm (UTC)The argument isn't that they're "too lethal" and cops should use guns instead. It's that they're "too lethal" and cops shouldn't use them FRIVOLOUSLY, because they're not a sufficiently reliably non-lethal alternate for casual use, the way they often get used.
