Bush to UN: if you let Clinton speak at the Montreal conference, the US will not sign on with the proposition being discussed, no matter what.

Psychiatrists discussing whether racism and homophobia qualify as mental illnesses - since they have the same symptoms in many cases, and respond to antipsychotic medication. [livejournal.com profile] iocaste's comment: "The concern, of course, is your garden variety bigot would get a diagnosis and then would get protection from discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act. You think it's bad now when pharmacists say they can't dispense drugs for religious reasons -- imagine if they really did have that sort of legal protection."

Stupid computer tricks: Pictures of bad things people have done to their machines.

Um, if someone has a psychological disorder that prevents them from doing their job properly, and they're not getting treatment, can't they be removed from their job?

Yes and no. The ADA has some pretty strict requirements - you're required to accomodate disabilities far, far more than you're required to accomodate your employees' religion - you're required, legally, to work around it, and you can't refuse to hire on the basis of it unless it means the person really can't do the job at all.

Re: the Montreal conference; I thought that was a joke posting. It's not funny. I'd dig a bomb shelter, but looks like it'd just flood in.

Re: Stupid Computer Tricks; used to work on the "cow" contract handling after-purchase upgrades... all those computers bought for pre-schoolers sorta alarmed me, as the wee tykes aren't exactly noted for their technical expertise.

-- Steve did get a good laugh at the "casemod" ones; nothing quite like bashing a hole or duct taping your computer back together and then sending it back for warranty work. Indeedy.

You know why the Bush crew backed down on caring whether Clinton spoke in Montreal? He's not going to sign off on anything that might inconvenience his puppetmasters anyway.

I love the computer abuse stuff. Did my usual what else is around here, found a folder full of, um electrode sex...

Bush/Clinton in Montreal? Bush is the reason a term limit is needed, Clinton the reason I regret its need.

If Clinton could have ran for a third term, there would have been no Bush presidency to regret. Despite the impeachment fiasco, Clinton went out of office on a high note and would have been unbeatable by the likes of Bush. The GOP would have had to run someone a bit more Centrist to eat into Clinton's hold of the middle, like McCain or Powell.

Oh, agree completely, Gore was such an awful candidate anyway. Ah well.
