Three cheers for the triumph of democracy!

The Shia voted for Shias - the ultra-right-wing Iranian theocratic party, in fact.
The Sunnis voted for Sunnis - the ultra-right-wing Iraqi theocratic party, in fact.
The Kurds voted for Kurds - the ultra-nationalist separatist party, in fact.

All three hate each other. All three winners campaigned on the idea of throwing Bush out. Muqtaqa al-Sadr, who led a private army against the Americans and who they wanted dead or alive, will now be one of the strongest people in the new government.

Soon, the walls are going to come up, since all the parties have near-100% majorities in their own areas, and the Shia ministers have already been caught running private armies and courts, torturing and murdering Sunnis and Kurds. There's no chance of the Kurds allowing Shia rule, for example, in their territory.

And then, since everyone's territory is so easily defined, there will be no more problems discovering who the enemy are - the heretics who God hates - and bombing the shit out of them.

A direct quote: Ghassan Attiyah, an Iraqi commentator, said: "In two and a half years Bush has succeeded in creating two new Talibans in Iraq."

I'm tired of it.

That's one response I can fully understand. And comprehend.
