If that says "ORLY" in sindarin or something, I think I may just laugh myself sick.

Um, do you have any idea what that says?

(I do, assuming it's written in English mode, and it probably is because it makes sense read that way and I very much doubt that word exists in Sindarin or Quenya, but a) it's not worksafe, and b) I really can't see the connection to the owl.)

Also, that last character (that looks like a 9) doesn't exist in any of the modes that I know of. Unless it's the writer's preference to create a double-s by an inverted s-uninverted s combination and that's what the uninverted s looks like in his font.

I think it's supposed to be a translation of a question mark.

But, really, I'm not enough of a Tolkien geek to know for sure.

The question marks I've seen all look like stylish capital latin Bs, actually.

I did see the ORLY owls, I did get the humor after a bit of delay and started laughing, too. The idea of people using it as an Elvish ORLY owl is, indeed, hysterical in a rather sarcastic way.

I do have a sarcastic streak sometimes. I'm just slow nowadays because Brain Too Full.

Ah, I see by your reply to the commenter above that you, indeed, do.

Now to be explaining to me the owl, please?

(Or maybe not, since the explanation is likely to break my little fragile mind.)

Was just making an appropriately image-ful reply when you posted.

Absolutely, I know exactly what it says.

And apparently you've been privileged enough to miss the O RLY owls. They've been going around for weeks:

It started with these:

And has gone, uh, DOWNHILL from there.

This one has gotten a lot of play, which is why the Elvish one is funny. (Or at least I think so.)

(Oh, and the original images don't have the URL tags. I just didn't feel like removing them, and those were the first ones I found)

I've never seen the Mordor one before. That's hilarious, I think because the owl appears to have a peevish expression on its face. (I realize it's just the angle and the arrangement of feathers, but it looks peevish.)

Indeed... I hadn't seen it before, either.
