[livejournal.com profile] tjcrowley, who is normally sensible people but who does not allow non-friend responses to his journal entries[1], has posted a bit of spoilerish King Kong nitpickery, pointing out something that didn't happen but that he thinks should have.

Problem is, his math appears to be dead wrong, and since I've already done the work to make my rebuttal, if I can't post it there, I'll post it here.

The math on his weight seems wrong. My immediate guess is assume he's 24 feet tall, and thus has 64 times the internal volume and thus 64 times the weight - 25,600 lbs, or ~11600 kg.

That makes the lethal dose 5818181.81 mg - more than, but not by much, the dose he was given.

And that, of course, assumes that monkeys and rats take the same dose, and that Kong got the full gallon, and that the water didn't dilute it at all.

[1]: a truly frustrating habit, since it doesn't *tell* you that you can't respond when you tell it to respond, only when you attempt to finalise the comment - meaning you've got to notice that it's one of the two people out of two hundred who don't allow non-Friend responses, and remember which two those are.
