Lawrence Lessig, Stanford law professor, has a question to the people who shut down homemade music video sites: "Now that you've succeeded in stopping thousands of kids from spending hundreds of thousands of hours to make fantastically creative content that promotes your work for free, do you really expect to sell more records next year?"

You know, everyone quotes that line, but they never quote it in context. The few lines that come before it are very interesting. For most people, it would be a reason to stop using that quote. Me? I find it an even more alluring in context.

I've never read Henry IV, but I tracked it down to read it...and it sounds like a bunch of commoners trying to claim kingship and create, well, Communism (everybody equal under the supreme ruler, no money or property or variation in people) and a society of ignorance. So obviously the lawyers have to go.

The idea is to cripple the existing system. Any system of govts. first job is law and order. The anarchist in me gets all warm and fuzzy. Fortunately, it's only a small inclination that is ignored unless I can derive amusement from it.
