In case anything else I've ever said about them wasn't enough, the CPC have just sunk to entirely new levels of "unacceptable".

They use telemarketers.

PHONESPAMMERS.

This is an entirely new level of scumbag, here. I won't deal with any company that "telemarkets" at me - what the fuck makes you think I'll even remotely consider voting the kind of dishonest and unethical sleazebag who'd employ them into office?

Death to phonespammers. You should beg on the street first before spamming, it's more honest and less humiliating.

This is a recent development for you? I've been contacted by Liberal, NDP, and CPC telemarketers for every election since I've been back.

The pre-recorded mass-produced message that got left on our answering machine is a new development, yes.

(I actually hadn't gotten calls from candidates reps before this year. I generally find that the politest way to deal with them is to ask if what they have to say is anything I can't find on the website, and assure them that I do have the URL.)

They do the same here in the US. I got one today (recorded) from Eliot Spitzer, NYSAG cum Democratic Candidate for Governor of New York.

Are we talking cold calling, or recorded messages?

We cold call in the UK (I've done it, horrible, I went back to doorstepping), but prerecorded/call centre bollux we can do without.

Oh,

I started reading his blog during the UK election, he got a better result prediction than the BBC did, so if he's doing Canada, worth a read. Looks good from a "all I know about the Canadian election I got from [livejournal.com profile] theweaselking perspective.

I'm interested. Our media isn't.

Weird, my robo-phone call was from Howard Hampton on behalf of the local NDP candidate. Hung up as soon as I realised it was a recording.
