Joshua Philip Martin was in his fourth day on the job as a rescue-squad worker in Russell County when, in a playful mood, he decided to reach into the front seat of the ambulance and zap one of his co-workers with the defibrillator paddles.

Yesterday, in Russell Circuit Court, a judge convicted Martin, 25, of involuntary manslaughter.

*BLINK*

It's not enough. He should have to pay for the support of those two little kids he orphaned, and apologize his ass off to them every day for the rest of his life.

Jesus fuck, I'm not even an EMT and I know that defibrillators are not toys.

I read that yesterday, and was immediately reminded of some of my co-workers.

This person is not mature (or inteligent) enough to be responsible for someone's life. I hope his ass is fired, because having him as my EMT would be enough to kill me with anxiety, I think.

Agreed.

We learned to use the AED at work last semester. There's a REASON you holler "Clear!" before you set them off, dammit.
