Remember the lion cub that got a mastiff puppy to play with because they didn't have any other small lions?

Here's a video of them playing together.

Many more videos, including a baby tapir, a baby panda learning to walk, a zebra slipping the tongue to the camera, and a pride of lions attacking a bunch of meat-filled pumpkins, here.

They're all in RealMedia format. If you don't have it yet, do not install Realplayer. Install Real Alternative instead.

Darn it, all I get is a series of still pictures, most of them not that good.

Your connection probably isn't fast enough - if the zoo can't push the video to you fast enough, it won't play properly.

Umm, broadband cable connection? It may be because I have my work connection up as well right now. As I am working from home today. That means my firewall and all are seriously engaged.

Your connection *to the zoo* might not be fast enough.

And if you've got a VPN to your workplace, then it's the zoo's connection to your workplace, through their firewall, through their routers, back out through their firewall, and down to you through your connection and firewall again.

But connection speed is just a guess.

Once I deleted REal Player and instaled that Alternative it ran fine. :)

If ultimately you decide to inform us that the mastiff/lion story does not end happily for one or both of them, please put it behind a cut, okay?

I would recomend either/or MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html) or VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) instead of something like Real Alternative.

Why?

Compare and contrast!

(I like Real Alternative. It plays Realmedia, it doesn't screw up my system, spy on me, or add random shit like Ral does, and it gives me Media Player Classic alongside it so that I don't have to deal with Windows Media Player for videos)

Those two programs have no spyware (are open source actualy), and together can open any video file I've come accross, regardless of format.

RA is equally crapware-free and equally workable, but whatever. I'll have to take a look at those two and see how I like 'em.
