No, really. I'm leaving in two weeks, travelling to Munich for two days, Bonn for 10, Frankfurt for ~4 hours, and then I'm coming home.

And it's free[*].

I are happy.

So möchte wer mich für ein Bier treffen und an meinem schrecklichen Deutschen lachen?

[*]: I pay my own spending money. The plane, the food, the lodging, and the in-country travel mentioned above are all paid for.

Cool! So are you a seasoned European traveler or will this be your first time? I'd offer advice but I've never been to Germany. Greece, Austria, France and England (mostly curtesy of work) but not Germany.

So, you have your passport? Watch out for pickpockets. They are bad. Trains and subways are the way to travel. Take a digital camera of course. When I went on vacation I took a huge backpack (one of the real ones that rest on your hips) so that I could take it with me on the trains from town to town (I used trains to get from Vienea to Paris to London) and filled it with souvineers. Well, it had a few clothes in it to start with. Have fun!

Vacation-type. A side effect of it being so close to free is that I've got to ride herd and count noses on some tourists, but I'm okay with that.

SQUEE!

If I dehydrate myself sufficiently, will you tuck me in your suitcase?

While you're in Bonn, make sure you see Beethoven's house and the Bundestag im Wasserwerk building. Also, get thee to Godesburg, the Drachenfels and Drachenburg (castles). I *heart* Bonn immensely.

Cologne is about 15 - 20 minutes away auf dem Bahn, and is definitely worth the trip if you have time.

I'll have to check those out - and I think customs might object to my smuggling Americans into Germany.

I could pass for German!

(Gods, but I miss the place.)

You're going to be in Bonn for 10 days? Dear God why? I had enough of that place in two. I can say, however, that my right arm has been in the room Beethoven was born in.
