That's probably a cocktail. She's British, drinking is not a big deal there. But that's definitely not her beer for the holding-it-by-the-neck reasons detailed by jl_williams below.
Minimum age to drink it in a bar/buy it yourself: 18. Not particularly heavily enforced, I wouldn't be at all suprised if she'd gone out drinking by now, I started doing so occasionaly around the same age.
The important thing though, is this; minimum age to drink alcohol at home: not sure if there is one, probably about 5 years old if there is. Looking at that photo (which I will agree looks like she's faking it) it appears to be at dinner, either at her home or someone elses, as long as there's an adult there it is entirely legal for her to be drinking.
We really just don't get so worked up about the demon drink over here.
a) It's staged b) I don't care anyway, I think it's appropriate to be slowly introduced to alcohol in social situations over an extended time, probably starting before you're 18.
She's holding it by the neck. Anyone with more than three days' drinking experience knows you don't hold a beer by the neck -- you risk spilling it that way.
Same as how you can tell someone hasn't been a smoker very long if they seem to fixate on how they're holding it. A REAL smoker doesn't even notice it's there -- like an extension of their hand.
Well, okay. You *can* hold a beer by the neck, but there's a right way and a wrong way. The wrong way is to hold it like she is up there -- like it's someone else's underpants.
Looks photoshopped to me. People usually resize these pics now days to hide the paste lines, but somethign about th elighting, the angle and suches, just doesnt' sem right. and the size looks off too... unless that's a Corona 40... and the brits are far too snobby to drink that .p

Date: 2006-03-01 03:17 pm (UTC)Mind you, I guess it could be a private room type of thing, at which point the rules may be equivalent to drinking at home, I wouldn't know.
