For the people who *will* ask: the ones who aren't immediately recognisable are Shadowcat, Callisto, Pyro, and Juggernaut.

No, Colossus is NOT being played by Ben Affleck, and Pyro is not from Tatooine.

If you haven't seen the teaser yet, what are you waiting for?

That would be Ben Foster. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004936/)

He was last seen in The Punisher, with a shitload of metal in his face. (and a lot less of it by the end of the movie)

He also had a truly excellent role in Six Feet Under. Much better than the punisher crap. He acted and everyhting. I think he's a great choice.

Odd. I don't find him nearly as attractive in the photos on IMDB as he looks in that picture above. *damn* fine photography.

As long as she can find a bigger picture. A high-res one of him in the lab, from the trailer would probably fit the bill.

Or she could just go with the ones from The Punisher. Same actor, so it's all the same, right?

...am shocked that you have to define Pyro and Juggernaut.

I am claiming stupid day stress for not cluing in to Shadowcat (yay! finally! Kitty Pride!).

I still want to know on what fucking planet that is Callisto, but okay. I mean, she looks clean and delicate, with a classy-ish tattoo. She does *not* look like the punked-out queen of the sewer mutants.

(I *liked* the punked-out queen of the sewer mutants.)

She didn't start out that way, though. We may have met her that way in mainstream continuity, but this is a whole different ball of wax. My money is on her having teamed up with Magneto and the brotherhood here. Maybe afterward, when magneto is thwarted, she and the other freaks will retreat to the sewers and creat the as yet unseen morlocks.

ObQuibble: insofar as the comics show us, she *did* start out that way. She got pretty for a handful of issues about sixty issues after she showed up, then reverted.

(Hang on: mainstream? These movies *are* the mainstream continuity. The comics are for the geeks.)

Apparently they have decided to pick the character's styling from the post-Siege Perilous era and add a tattoo, in which Masque made her abnormally beautiful and she was having a successful career as a New York model and hooking up with the sensitive Russian artist Peter Nicholas.[1] That is fine. I very much doubt they're going to have her accidentally reverted back to her original state after the nasty Morlocks beat the shit out of her to attempt to secure the position of ruler (even though she was off being a model and not really very involved with the Morlocks at that point), but that is fine.

Nonetheless, I miss the punked-out queen of the sewer mutants.

As far as we know there are no morlocks in this continuity. My prediction is that by the end of hte movie there will be morlocks and she will be their leader, but that to begin with she'll be with the brotherhood.

Yay Kitty Pride!

I'm with ya on this one. Her escape sequence in X2 I thought was one of the better examples of mutant powers being used by someone as naturally as one would breathe or run. I wonder though, since I didn't do ALOT of in-depth study, if any of the parts of Shadowcat were played by the same actress.

Still not sold on Vinnie as Juggernaut.

Wondering how the hell they picked that woman to play Callisto when Callisto is a rough-looking white woman who led a group of outcasts that lived underground in New York City.

Noticed a bunch of weirdo cameos in credits. Omega Red?

Feeling the same skepticism that plagued "pre-Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler" thoughts on X2, lessened only by "Kelsey Grammar as Beast" hopefulness.

Russian mutant villain. Noted for lethal pheremones,[1] Doctor Octopus-style coils of carborundum (flexible adamantium) in his wrists, and an antisocial need to suck the life-force from other mutants (other anything?) to survive.

Last seen (by me, anyway) in early X-Men (the new series), in the middle of the Soul Skinner/let's re-age Illyana/whoops, killed her (and Collossus's parents) story arc. Yich.

[1] No, really. Lethal pheremones. Killer BO. Though I think they called them death spores in the comic.

I know who Omega Red is, but IIRC, he was never exactly down with Magneto. My comment was more "what the hell is he doing in this type of plot" than "who the hell is he?" I know my Marvel characters, believe me...

I confess I was a little surprised at the thought that you might not; clearly I misunderstood.

*shrug* It's a cameo-fest. He's more Magneto-in-the-movie's schtick than Xavier's, anyway.

Well, you see, it's the movies. Which means a passing observer might be tempted to believe that a side-effect of most mutations is being abnormally attractive, or very rarely abnormally unattractive, but certainly never anything so pedestrian as *normally* unattractive.

Which means that this face

just isn't cutting it.

"Punked-out queen of the sewer mutants" would also be a good band name.

How horrendously boring! It's like someone went to great lengths to make all the portraits the same. Back-lit or in shadow, black background, tilted steeply (even Patrick Stewart!) and grim expressions. Someone please fire the schmuck who put that together.

I don't know. If the movie trailer were a little darker, I'd assume they were trying to echo that other picture of sixteen portrait shots which all looked pretty much the same.

As is, I'm assuming they wanted to make them easily icon-able.

I don't know, I kinda liked that uniform look. It goes well for an piece of ensemble work like any X-Men movie is going to be. And didn't they do something similar for the teaser posters of the second one?
