In LA, 350 families have spent the last 13 years working a 14-acre farm in South Central. With no transportation costs and no fossil fuel inputs on ground that was once completely paved over, they've been growing organic fruit and vegetables.

And now they're being evicted, because the city wants to put up a Wal-Mart.

No, they are being evicted because someone else owns the property. If people really feel that this is a wonderful thing that should continue, they should raise funds and buy the owner out.

Of course, if they had the wherewithall to raise those kinds of funds, they probably would neither be farming nor living in South Central in the first place.
