Why Stephen Harper desperately tries to keep his party's core from speaking to the media, a case in point:

"Reporters who disagree with the government-approved story should be jailed!"

Ok, good, for a second I was afraid Harper was approving of that.

He's not "approving" it, exactly.

But he's not censuring the members of his party who think that kind of thing, and he's not attempting to move away from them or their positions. He's just desperately trying to keep their real opinions a secret from the public.

Again.

He doesn't care that the CPC "base" are lunatics.

He just cares that the majority of the country doesn't *find out* that they're lunatics.

Right. I don't trust harper as far as I could throw him, however, he does have a brain, and if he's doing this it means that his position isn't strong enough to act more openly.

This Regressive Conservative government has been giving off good vibes in the media. If the loonies don't break free of Harper's leash and howl in the spotlight, I anticipate a Regressive majority.
