Apparently one gets these picturesque squares of stone walls because it's just too goddamned much work to haul the stones from your fields much farther than this.

Makes sense to me, at any rate.

The original site has message written in Cyrillic, so the photographer's probably Russian, or maybe Ukrainian, or ??

I've seen pics of fields like these in Ireland, but Ireland doesn't have good sized mountains. I'll guess near the Caucausus.
