Senior NSA agent to ABC news, speaking on condition of anonymity: "We're tapping your phones to find out who you're talking to."

That's right, boys and girls. Tapping your phones and watching your phone records to find out who you're calling is all for your own good, and to find "terrists". And by "terrists" we, in fact, mean "government whistleblowers who told the media about these manifestly and blatantly illegal surveillance programs".

Only a handful of the comments scare me, but yeah, their blind obeisance to the adsinistration line scares me a lot. I don't know which would scare me more, though: if the people making those comments are some of the paid shills Dawn Howard mentions, or if they aren't. QCIC, man?

Is it overly cynical of me to find Dawn's comment unsurprising?

Based on my own reaction, I'd say no, my Sedai.

Either that, or we're both overly cynical.

I was already noticing the patterns in the comments even before I scrolled down to Dawn Howard's comment; I remember hearing about guys being hired to flood, say, gaming forums with favourable (but meaning-empty) comments about $VIDEO_GAME; I think unconsciously I'd put two and two together.
