Horse thieving, jailbreaking, assault, murder, lynch mobs, zombies, witch burning, and automatic weapons: All in a good day's work for the posse.

And these guys are the heroes.

And they've got a REALLY GOOD REASON for all of it.

I love Deadlands.

To be fair, we were the target of at least three of those things, and not the instigators.

Still.

Never never never going back to Silver Gulch.

Especially not if Rattlesnake Jake's gang busting in on us goes badly in Rocky Springs.

All D20 is horrible, irredeemable crap whose core concepts and mechanics were obsolete in the 1970s. D20 is a plague on the face of gaming - a slow, kludgy, heavily crunchy system with killer flaws[1] built in so deeply that the only way to get them out is to throw the entire thing out. It is a system where the presence and use of the mechanics is itself a bad and fun-damaging thing - the only way to make the game enjoyable is to never invoked the mechanics, and the system is built entirely around the idea that if you can do it, there's a mechanic for it - and if there isn't a mechanic for it, it's impossible.

All D20 sucks.

So not that.

We're running Classic. I own a copy of Savage Worlds and picked up Reloaded last week, but I'm not interested in converting. Too much work, and the entire bunch of PCs are just now getting a handle on how Classic works. Besides, I'm finding myself seriously unenthused with how Reloaded handles some of the big nasties.

[1]: "Classes" and "levels" are the first two that immediately come to mind.
