Daredevil was an atrocious movie, but the rest of it is wrong. That is, unless I missed the meeting and having sonar instead of sight is now considered "regular" for people now. His other 4 senses are also heightened to an extreme level, also not "regular" for people, last I checked.

And meh isn't a word. The word is eh. I put people who use meh on the same level as people who use "ur" and leetspeak.

Nothing that mocks the daredevil movie can be wrong.

Therefore he is right.

It's true!

He's mostly mocking the character through an incomplete understanding of the character's powers. I'll never try to stop people mocking the movie because it blew dead bears (to quote you). It was no Batman and Robin, but it was bad.

Meh is so a word. :P

(Also thought it sucked. Badly. Very very badly.)

If meh is a word, ur (as in the modern usage, not the Mesopotamian city) is a word, and that's not a proposition I'm willing to consider for even a second. Adding an m to the expression eh and then claiming it's a valid expression for the exact same sentiment as eh doesn't make it so. =P

How are you jumping from a phonetic representation of a particular word/sound/shorthand being a word to the assumption that a non-phonetic representation must also be a word? Meh is pronounced "meh". Ur is pronounced "ur"; it's no more a spelling of "your" than ghot is a spelling of "fish".

And on what planet is the blithe indifference that results from someone not paying attention and the disappointed disinterest resulting from someone not caring because the thing being discussed is perceived as being of poor quality "the exact same sentiment"?

Eh, I don't really care =P

I can't say I've ever seen "meh" used in a place that - up until several years ago - "eh" was used consistantly.

And "ur" can be pronounced "you are" as in "OMG, ur such a n00b! LOLZ" or, as seen on a local church sign "What's missing here: Ch__ch"

See, me I'd say "Meh." And that would make it clear that I didn't really care. :)

I realize how ur can be pronounced "you are". Much like pronouncing ghot can be pronounced as fish, it requires peeling the letters apart into separate crunchy bits for pronunciation, but eliminating any such indicators when written.

But I'm not trying to say that ur and meh resemble one another except for the fact that they are both annoying additions to the language produced in the last few years. That's pretty much where the resemblance stops. When I use eh it isn't pronounced like a long a sound per Canuckistanian rules btw.

Fair enough. (FWIW, I wasn't assuming you were talking about the long eh. More the short eh.)

Um...yeah.

If I want to say "eh", I say "eh".

If I want to say "enh", I say "enh".

And if I want to say "meh", I say "meh".

All different, depending on what I'm grunting in the direction of.

Your phonetically rendered discourse particle mileage may vary, obviously, but this seems a little trivial to get up in arms about. Eh?

I'm really not "up in arms" any more than anyone with a pet peeve is. I'm pretty sure there are things that annoy you that people around you don't understand your annoyance in the least. And the fact that, up until a few years ago, I heard "eh" in literally every place I've seen "meh" since is one of mine. I don't think the world is going to end or the children will be corrupted, it's just one of those little things.
