*facepalm*

reminds me of Bowling for Columbine, the part where a bank was giving away guns for setting up accounts.

*another facepalm*

People are going to look at me funny, but I like it. They are giving them away within the bounds of the law - to people who are buying an extremely expensive item, which may put them at risk of robbery.

Not all pawnshops are sleazy, and one good piece of jewelry might easily cost 750 dollars.

I just think it's absurd. It's like giving away a rifle with a new bank account or golf clubs with a new truck.

(Although the TD near my house was offering a 4GB iPod Nano for opening an account with them. I may have to drop $100 on them and take advantage of the deal.)

So? You're getting a free item. If you want said free item and also some expensive jewelry, why not?

It doesn't matter to me that it's a firearm, and it isn't like they're going 'Free Belt-Fed .50 BMG Browning M2HB with every purchase!' A shotgun has many uses, even one that is really only 'tactical' in name.

Re-enactment of the scene from "The Crow?"

Hell, that was even -in- a pawn shop...

If you break it down, any give-away is absurd. My bank is giving faux-leather travel bags if you get somebody to open a checking account. You get one, and the new account gets one.

Ah, well, that explains it. That explains it all.
