They wouldn't have started this without Bush's promise that he'd back them, and since Bush wants to attack *every* Muslim country that isn't run by someone named "Saud", he's going along with it. After all, it's not anyone he gives a shit about who gets killed, just Jews, poor Americans, and sand niggers.
They've been hitting select targets for two days. In the last 5 hours or so, they've started killing infrastructure - power plants, bridges, rail hubs, etc - in addition to BOMBING BEIRUT ITSELF hitting government offices.
It will be interesting to see if Bush can cash that check, assuming that it was, in fact, written out.
Backing Israel openly (troop deployment) means the fighting in Iraq will suddenly become the fighting from pretty much Greece/Egypt westward to India, AT LEAST. At that point, the law of diminishing returns comes into play, and unless Halliburton has big plans for making bank with a moon colony, I don't see where the profit lies.
Now, I will agree that the Rapture idiots are definitely part of Bush's 37-Percenters, but I honestly don't think he's one of them. He knows how to talk to them, and by gum he certainly NEEDS their support now, because who else will do that? But I have my doubts that he's even all that much of a committed Christian (stop laughing) and if he's just some crypto-Millenialist, well, there's going to come a point where his handlers put him back in the cage and Cheney goes back to the business of manafacturing jowly buttery slabs of rich white men.

Not only can he not cash it, but it cannot be cashed.
