This explains who has been fencing hubcaps for bags of tasty garbage.

But but they're so cute, and enormous, and too clever for their own good, and will eat anything, and growl constantly for communication. What's not to like?

Had one for a pet when that was still legal. They're extraordinarily bright, have a sense of humor, and are probably the smartest wild mammal in the United States. Assuming that humans aren't considered wild, of course.

I've registered my opinion of that elsewhere.

They are EXTREMELY intelligent, and that is actually a large part of why I hate them so much.

I have no doubt in my mind they are the smartest wild mammal in the US, and I would posit they are the smartest in North America, unless there's something about moose I don't know.

Essentially, I feel like they're trying to supplant my place on the food chain.

Oh but everyone's a carrier of vile diseases these days.

Last I checked, I'm not riddled with rabies, mange, or various digestive-tract parasites that are hazardous or fatal to pets and humans alike that may make the mistake of coming too close to "their" trash can, or, in my own personal case, "their" attic... which was in my house.

The real kicker is how extraordinarily unlikely it is for them to succumb to any of that due to their phenomenal physiology.
