Aug. 21st, 2006 11:05 amAP study reveals that not only are the US Armed Forces so desperate for manpower that they're ignoring criminal records and not discharging rapists, but that they're giving the rapists jobs as recruiters
In the last YEAR, the combined armed forces have had to discipline more recruiters than in any previous DECADE.
For the record? Do that math, as one of the commenters did. One case of misconduct for every two recruiters.
EDIT: Yes, I got my stats crossed. Thanks, Kevin.

Date: 2006-08-21 04:24 pm (UTC)One case of sexual assault on a recruit for every two recruiters.
Read the article again. They've *disciplined* more recruiters for sexual assaults (~80) in the last year than in the previous decade. There have been 100 reported assaults in the last year, with 722 reports since 1996.
The 6600 figure is not 'sexual misconduct', but 'recruiter misconduct'. That's not 'one case of sex assault per two recruiters', but one case of ANY misconduct reported per two recruiters.
Still apalling, but we're not dealing with serial rapists in the army recruiting centres.
