This line killed me: "Hikers lose reality about the cows. They don't know how to react when a cow appears"

They're COWS, not LIONS, you idiots! They will not run you down and eat you! Just note that they're there, don't pester them, and go on about your bidniz. Sheesh.

I was driving through some open range in Nevada with [livejournal.com profile] rwx once and we rounded a corner at 70 mph and there was this HERD OF COWS standing in the middle of the road.

So I stopped. And we looked at them, and they looked at us, and we looked at them, and they looked at us, and about the time I was wondering whether my 2WD pickup was up to a little off-roading they shuffled out of the way.

Best cow encounter ever. (Much better than the time I was camping in Virginia and one attempted to walk over our tent.)

I was chased when I was in Switzerland when I was 10.
But I deserved it.

Wasn't injured. But tugging on a cows tail isnt a good idea. Even when you are on a chocolate high.

"Above all else, never give the cow your home phone number, or full street address."
