Soon I discovered that this cult thing is true...
H.P.Lovecraft is the Devil.
Cthulhu was a Priest before he became a God.

All of a sudden I found myself in love with the Void!
And there's only one thing left for me to do...
And that's Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

And yet, you always slipped through moose holes in his net...

No, the problem is that the moose kept getting caught along with the Simulation Test Laras, which was highly destructive to my facilities and hazardous to my health.

The system still hasn't gone after Real Live Lara, due to the consistent failure of the tests.

A song for you. MP3 at the link.

Welcome to my secret lair on Skullcrusher Mountain
I hope that you’ve enjoyed your stay so far
I see you’ve met my assistant Scarface
His appearance is quite disturbing
But I assure you he’s harmless enough
He’s a sweetheart, calls me master
And he has a way of finding pretty things and bringing them to me

I’m so into you
But I’m way too smart for you
Even my henchmen think I’m crazy
I’m not surprised that you agree
If you could find some way to be
A little bit less afraid of me
You’d see the voices that control me from inside my head
Say I shouldn’t kill you yet

I made this half-pony half-monkey monster to please you
But I get the feeling that you don’t like it
What’s with all the screaming?
You like monkeys, you like ponies
Maybe you don’t like monsters so much
Maybe I used too many monkeys
Isn’t it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

I think you should have submitted this to [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes, but I don't know how many there would recognize it.

Shame about that, really. The world needs more Ministry.

Metaquotes it yourself. It can't hurt.

D&D has taught me that if you worship it and you get magic spells, it's a god.

Cthulhu is a god.

Now if we could only get someone to perform this. Hell, I'll bet Al would do a remix for a bag of weed these days.

I love it.

Really.

Speaking of the dark one I was thinking of updating IOU to D20 modern/cthullu and having some fun.

THoughs on how to do it right?

Step 1: Realise that IOU is fun, and D20 is not only not fun, it is anti-fun.
Step 2: Realise that IOU is funny, and CoC is not only not funny, it is anti-funny.
Step 3: Cease conversion.

It's best for all concerned, I think.

I hate gurps. Like more then I hate compound sentances.

So, using a non-gurps ruleset, how would you suggest holding an IoU game?

GURPS is neither funny nor fun, so it is totally unsuited to IOU as well, I agree.

I'd be tempted to go straight for a fast, fuzzy system that will get the hell out of your way and let you play. Savage Worlds is good, although maybe not granular enough. Storyteller (old or new) is good for that, but maybe too serious.

You can never really go wrong with Fudge or Metal Opera.

I dunno, I think GURPS can be rather fun. Funny, no not particularly, but certainly fun. YMMV and all that rot of course.

Though for exclaiming that d20 is the anti-fun you get my worship. I expect the spells to start rolling in any time now.

A number of people have issues against GURPS. I'm used to it.

From what I've seen, every last one of them is from not having played it right. We really should get the mantra out that GURPS is not Rifts. I think too many people look at the rules and (a) decide they must use them all, and (b) think that the rules are god (as opposed to, say, the GM or a reasonably quick resolution by whatever means). Yes, GURPS can do multi/cross genre things; No, that does not mean one must or that they're given license to do it poorly. And if a book needs to be referred to during play, you're doing it wrong, no matter what the system.

Have you checked out 4th ed yet?

Checked it out? Heck, I'm running a game in 4e and seem to have converted my entire group over to GURPS with it. 4e is fantastic. :)

So I noticed ^^;

Glad you could gain some converts with it. I haven't had a chance to run a game with it yet, though it looks a lot more streamlined and cleaned up than the trusty old 3eR.

It shouldn't be too hard to port things over to BESM. And that'd probably be one of the best systems for it actually. Yeah, GURPS and IOU is a rather... interesting combination. Much as I love SJGames.

Does that mean that CoC SHOULD be played in D20, or that it shouldn't be played in IOU because it's not serious enough?

I personally think all lovecraftian games should be larped. If you come out of a game with your sanity intact, you weren't playing hard enough. Or the hallucinogens wore off too fast.

Nothing should be played in D20, because the purpose of playing is to have fun and D20 is the exact, total, complete opposite of fun.

I'm just saying that IOU and CoC go together like monkeys and peanut butter - and nobody really wants Rhesus Peanut Butter Cups.
