A man accused of ramming his car into a women's clinic and then setting his car on fire thought it was an abortion clinic, police said Tuesday.

I think solitary crazy people acting on the voices in their head don't fall under the label of terrorism, no matter what their religion. (Which, incidentally, was not mentioned in the article.) Kinda like postal workers who return to shoot as many of their colleagues as possible are not terrorists either.

I'm not sure how we could verify that. Even if he says he's a fundamentalist, he's most likely insane (or at least his lawyer will amost certainly say so), in which case his confession to being a fundie will be worthless. We could, I suppose, narrow it down to whether he is a registered member of a church that encourages the burning of abortion clinics.

An old friend of mine (who is a forensic fire investigator) says that she's attended several incidents where some poor soul has set fire to themselves to 'prove' something or other to their loved ones (don't leave me, or i'll set myself on fire, or some such) and only then realised that being on fire actually hurts like a bastard.
So they run to the bathroom to try to put the flames out under the shower, only to become shrink-wrapped in the plastic showercurtain.

This sounds like the current definition of terrorism, or even the good old-fashioned one of people with some cause who try and hurt other people to further that cause.
