A man repeatedly stabbed his toddler and estranged wife along an interstate while horrified people watched from their cars in rush-hour traffic Friday night, police and witnesses said.

The 2-year-old girl was in a car with her parents when her father started stabbing his wife with a kitchen knife along Interstate 110 near the Governor's Mansion, said Cpl. L'Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge Police spokesman.

When the 26-year-old woman got out and ran for help from an East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputy in squad car just ahead of them, her husband stabbed his daughter, McKneely said.

"He kept stabbing her until the knife was stuck in her head," witness Gloria Spears told WAFB-TV.

It was not immediately clear what led to the stabbings.

Because he is a fucking nutter! Really, it doesn't need anymore explanation than that. Normal people don't stab their partners, ex or otherwise, and what could that baby have done to bring being stabbed in the head upon herself?

Sorry, but this shit royally pisses me off.

Not everyone who stabs or kills someone is a "nutter." And not all "nutters" stab or kill people.

Everyone has their breaking point.

Also, crimes of passion and most murders are committed by normal people. That's why we put them in jails or prisons and not psychiatric wards.

Also, if a death is sanctioned like in a war or via the death penalty they are committed by normal people.

And one last also, genocides are also committed by normal people ordered to commit them.

It's all situational. Granted, there really aren't many reasons to commit murder.

BTW your term "fucking nutter" is fucking offensive.

I don't remember saying "all nutters stab people."

'Everyone has their braking points' well, growing up in a physically abusive home makes me feel a certain way about these things. Sorry if my term offended you, I supposed it was an utterance of 'passion'.

I think the fact that the guy had a kitchen knife in the car at the time negates your "crime of passion" and "breaking point" arguments.

I can see it negating the crime of passion argument. I can't see it negating the breaking point argument, especially as they were apparently divorced earlier that day.

He's up on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping ATM.

What's amazing to me is that the toddler SURVIVED.

At least, for now.

What on earth...
