I actually know someone in the TS community, and this isn't even close to the nastiest story I've heard about that man. It's probably the one with the best news value, but not to put too fine a point on it, if everyone with a genuine claim on a piece of his hide goes after him, there won't be enough left to bury.
On the other hand, he did make it easier for a quite large number of genuine transsexuals to get treatment quicker than they might have on the NHS. It's just that he made it so easy that a number of cases like this one slipped through.
