What an excellent example of The Valley Effect, or whatever it's called.

I don't know if it's photoshop or just a particularly good/bad angle, but the small mouth and nose, the space between the mouth and eyes, and the poofy-roundness of the head all conspire to make it look just-human-enough to look totally freaky.

A little less human, and it would be a cute animal. Once it gets through the valley of looking freaky and looks more human, it'll be just another furry.

Any geographic featuer full of things falling into the Uncanny Valley would be...

Hrm. "Misery-inducing" seems the best way to put it.

According to BBC and David Attenborough, (http://www.inkycircus.com/jargon/2006/11/i_heart_david_a.html) that's a Tibetan Fox, and quite real.

I was thinking "An older, wiser limecat reflects on the struggles of his youth."

Wow! Interesting-- Google reveals no other photographs of the species, just some illustrations and a page that notes that No known photographs exist of this species. Well, if they all look like the fellow in the photo, they're an odd-looking bunch, but nonetheless it's neat to finally have a decent photo of a Tibetan Fox!

When 5 people ask the same question, there's no guarantee that they'll be back to see an answer if they don't get a reply notification.
