As a diabetic, I'm super excited about the prospect of a cure. I imagine it will be quite some time before something like that is readily available though :-(

Until then, I'll shoot-up multiple times a day.

I was interested until I read this "The studies were extended to Type 2 (obesity-associated) diabetes". Type 2 is not always obesity-associated. The fact that they incorrectly called it such makes me wonder how valid their research is. I know more than one thin person with type 2 diabetes. It is most often caused by stress and controlled by diet, exercise and medication NOT caused by obesity. So I question the entire article.

One thing I was taught in University was that when reading articles regarding medical breakthroughs, check to see if the study has been published in a scientific journal, if not, then it's not gone through the checks and balances.

Also keep in mind that it is a writer that wrote the article, not a scientist working on the study.
Alternately, they could also only be looking into obesity-related Type 2 (although I doubt that was the interpretation they meant.

As [livejournal.com profile] waterspyder says, that statement was written by the sciencedaily.com writer, not the scientists doing the study. I have a .pdf copy of the article downloaded, if anyone can't access it and wants to read it, send me your email address.

And I hate you for mentioning the damn Ding Dong Song. I heard it once. Three years ago.

Now it is back in my head.

Does he have a lot of money from somewhere, or is it just really easy in Sweden to hire naked women?

From his Wikipedia entry:
"Mats Söderlund (born 1969) is a Swedish musician, club owner, and former model, best known under his stage name Günther. After retiring from modeling, he managed clubs in Malmö. In 2004 he started his musical career performing with the stage name Günther."

The girls are a singing duo whose entire gimmick is that they're hot, oiled, and naked - like Tatu. And, really, they're all probably making good money doing what they're doing.

If this study has any substance to it, then nothing will come of it anyway. You think any pharmacuetical company is going to buy cure when they are making billions on insulin and testing strips? If you're lucky this teatment can be shipped from Mexico where the scientists will undoubtedly flee after the contracts on their heads are out.
