Yet more US military recruiters acting badly: These ones were running cocaine. Funny what happens when you let just anybody, regardless of record, join the military, and then stick the slickest, best liars you've got in recruiting jobs, isn't it.

Date: 2006-12-22 12:50 am (UTC)ANYWAY: One could make the relatively cogent point that Harry Potter is a pretty terrible example for kids. He's extremely disobedient, albeit oftimes with "good" reason, he lies to all of his friends as well as his enemies (even Hagrid, for fuck's sake) and he seems to only worry about doing anything noble if it involves saving a girl. The Series of Unfortunate Events books, however, present a secular example of morality and responsible ethics that kids can understand, even examining some basic epistemological questions later in the series, as the children begin to mature. Plus, kids get to learn fancy real words reading that book, and HP only gives them crappy fake latin.
Ex-Xian "loyal newlywed" story: Is anybody at all surprised the judge wasn't a woman? I'm a little stunned it happened in England, too.
Army recruiter scumbags: So I've been looking for the answer to this and haven't been able to find it; who can I contact, through mail or e-mail, about getting this taken care of? It's disgusting and could turn our military (if it hasn't already) into the ugly half-truth that Republicans love to ascribe to Democrats...
