What's a proper wingnut to do when their OMG MUSLIM BAD bigotry is shortcutted by the Muslim congresscritter in question using Thomas Jefferson's copy of the Koran?

Why, attack Jefferson as unAmerican, of course.

I travel a lot for a living. I don't mind going places where being an American is dangerous, but I'm getting sick and fucking tired of always being fucking EMBARRASSED to say I'm an American.

We...he was a gosh-darned Deist, which is only one logical step away from being an atheist. That's terribly unamerican, you know.

[Or unAustralian, or what have you. Ugh.]

Ok, did he seriously just suggest that swearing on Jefferson's Qur'an is like swearing on Jefferson's slaves? What the hell does that even mean?!

I don't have a problem that he swore on the Quar'an for religious or anti-tradition sake as much as I do that he did it to make a politcal point. To me that's just lame....ranks up there with Brittany Spears showing off her cooter in public. Whoop dee doo.

The law says you affirm or swear in on nothing.

Tradition says you swear in on the holy book of your religion, or not - Quakers, for example, don't swear at all, and Jews swear in on the Torah. For religious reasons, he swears in on the Koran.

He swears in on JEFFERSON'S Koran to make a political point - and couldn't make that point, at all, if it weren't for the bigots objecting to his religion in the first place.
