Jan. 4th, 2007 04:20 pmHave you ever wondered what it would sound like if Type O Negative didn't suck?

Beware: Both of those sites have incredibly annoying behaviour, in that they automatically play music when loaded.
Geeks and fans of Keifer Sutherland should check out the video for their latest single, available on their site.

Date: 2007-01-05 12:07 am (UTC)They sound too derivative of other bands. I heard Ozzy, Bowie, and maybe some death metal rockers whose names I've blissfully forgotten. But--they're on key and the lyrics don't sound stupid. Maybe they'll find their own voice later.

Date: 2007-01-05 01:16 pm (UTC)Secondly, these guys.... uh. Yeeeeeeah. Any band that makes "rocking" a lyrical focus after 1985, by default, goes in the Suck file. Getting out of the Suck file requires some goddamned good talent, which they haven't. 69 Eyes also fails the Goth Rock test - close your eyes and listen to the music without thinking about how the members are dressed. Is it goth? In the case of 69 Eyes, the answer is a big fat NO. They sound like L.A. Guns meets Creed.

Date: 2007-01-05 04:51 pm (UTC)I beg to differ, on the voice of the singer, at least. Every time I hear them I go "Type O? That isn't grindy and whiny? What the fuck?"
I'm not a fan of Type O Negative. I've liked a couple of their songs, and some of their covers ("Pictures Of Matchstick Men", with Ozzy Osbourne, is amazing), but mostly they just annoy me.

Oh, sure, now you're going to tell me that you don't like Andrew WK, Doro, Dream Evil, or Lordi.
(They're all cheesy, but fun. Andrew WK, in very small doses)
And as for goth-rock: Being able to tell what the band is wearing by listening to them has never been a big concern *or* necessarily a positive, for me.
