Yep. It's just that when they're found in uniform, their being an asshole reflects on that uniform.

It's the same principle that requires the inquiries officers at the federal government office I work in to be polite to the people who call in, even when some of the questions would match up to the IT support call centre horror stories that I've heard. Because if you say "Well screw you, I'm thing you're a creep and that's probably why they don't *want* to be found" rather than "I'm sorry, sir, but that's not in our purview" then it's not you-as-individual who's being an ass, it's you-as-representative-of-the-federal-government.

And if you not only take the cheap shots but record yourself doing so and put it on line, there's no damn hope for you.
