Because if you say "Well screw you, I'm thing you're a creep and that's probably why they don't *want* to be found" rather than "I'm sorry, sir, but that's not in our purview" then it's not you-as-individual who's being an ass, it's you-as-representative-of-the-federal-government.
And if you not only take the cheap shots but record yourself doing so and put it on line, there's no damn hope for you.
