We've got a chap in our central mall who uses a similar technique. Less of the wussy gloves and fume box, more of the crazy twitches. Champion chap, too.
It's really interesting watching an entire piece take form, though. That's kinda cool.
I've seen a guy sitting on the street surrounded by cans and onlookers. He used more cutouts for things like the crescent moon, but still great to watch. Same feeling of "oh no, he's overspraying it... oh wait..."
I bought two pictures in 1992 from a guy in Honolulu who was doing the same thing. His technique was not quite as good, but then there has been some 14 years to refine the abilities. And he used Automobile spray paint. The pictures last forever and are well nigh indestructable. THANKS TONS for linking to the video. Now I can show people what I used to watch in Honolulu.
