Imprisonment without charge, lawyer, or trial: It's not just for terrorists, it's also for people sitting in their own homes, doing nothing.

And just think, Americans: your own government says, outright, that they think it's perfectly legal to do this to *you*, at any time, for any reason - and they've been spending billions of dollars of YOUR MONEY to build concentration camps.

Get back to us when he loses his case.

Or connect the dots already. I've had to wonder the entire time... not only how anybody thinks the government could possibly get away with this, but why would the government bother?

They aren't even intelligent enough to try to hide. Yes, it's annoying, but it's already starting to be their undoing.

I'm not calling "tin-foil tophat" on ya, but the military-industrial complex has been with us for almost three generations, it's certainly not like this is the first insular/inbred Republican administration that thinks US citizens don't actually have rights, and if the fuckin' NAC nabobs had their shit together at all, they'd already have what they want.

But Cheney is going to die, one or two more of those guys are going to end up rotting in jail, and Bush will make several more millions speaking at colleges...

...and then, unfortunately, we'll probably repeat this whole horrible cycle in about a dozen years.

I think the point is more that he had one.

Seven months in jail for being at home in New Orleans seems problematic, regardless of whether or not its corrected.

Not one iota of my being thinks there's anything remotely okay with what happened to that man. However, I feel that recently there has begun a movement of people waking up from this horrible six-year nightmare and if we (the US) can avoid armed conflict with Iran and/or Syria, we will pull out of this.

I just don't take stories like this as indicative that my way of life is in danger if I don't GET OUT NOW which seems to be the running thesis of John's postings on this subject. It's going to be okay, and I won't have to "worry" about it for another twelve years or so. Probably. Like I said, it's vital that we don't get started with any heavy shit in Iran.

I don't think his thesis is that the American way of life is in danger. I just think he's pointing out what parts of said way of life are.
