I was going to put this as an addendum to the previous post, to avoid further spamming people's friends pages, but I decided that last one deserved it's own entry.

I've been posting a *lot* of things lately, especially over the last two weeks. This is partly because there's been a lot to find, and partly because I've got a lot of free time at work and so I'm tossing stuff up as fast as I find it. I'm hitting 15-20 updates a day for the last two weeks.

I'm going to be cutting down the volume of posts, inevitably, as my workload picks up. The question I have for people is, am I spamming your Friends page to the point where you'd prefer I saved things up and updated 3 or 4 times per day? Or do you prefer catching thigns with their own entries?

Honestly, your frequent updates haven't bothered me. If I don't go and read what you've linked to then at the least they make me think. Sometimes that thinking involves an icy shudder down my spine, but you get the picture, I'm sure.

Change or don't change, its no matter to me!

I don't mind either way. Thankfully, most of your posts are very brief, usually no more than a sentence or two (one of which is a link to more information that I can *choose* to read if I feel like it.

Whatever works for you.

It would make me happy if you did that just for the times I am away for a couple days. If I don't check at least daily, I have to go back a few pages. Almost half of my past few days of friends posts are from you.
I like what you post, but a little consolidation would be appreciated.
Maybe if you used a blogging tool to keep your posts, then, a couple times a day, upload those to LJ. I don't know how those work, but I know some people use them.

The last couple of days has been more than usual, but I know what you mean. 'm going to try to cut down - the big question was, really, should I be aiming to cut down to just a few big updates per day, or would, say, half this many still be an acceptable number.

Honestly I don't mind.. You could combine two or three topics to one post, but that would only work if they were on the same topic, other wise the stuff would be lost. So my vote goes to keeping it the way it is.

I've been meaning to ask you who you are and how you found me. I certainly don't *object* to people reading my stuff, so don't get me wrong, there - I just was curious about how you found my journal in the first place, since I've got no interests defined and we have no friends in common.

Honestly I hit random and it landed on your journal. I really enjoy the articles you post, so I added you.
Let me introduce myself: My name is Nathalie, I live in California, and spend WAY too much time on LJ... I realize that my LJ is full of angst and memes and I don't really care because its my lj. Nice to meet you.

Hi, Nathalie. It's good to know - I'd been wondering, because you showed up on the list one day out of the blue.

Dude. It's your journal, keep it as you see fit. If people are unhappy that you update "too much" or "not enough", they have the option of taking you off of the default view and sticking you elsewhere.

People *do* have the option to be in control of their own reading choices, instead of expecting you jump through hoops for their convenience.

(Oooh, sorry, that was a little ranty. But seriously, people whining that other people update too much need a kick in the head. Tiny little peeve when people refuse to learn to use their damned LJs.)

Nobody's been complaining, and I'm looking for *suggestions*, not instructions.

Chill, Maggie, please.

Okay, since I can't seem to figure it out, *how* do you take somebody off the default view? I can make filters to my heart's content, but I can't seem to make
http://www.livejournal.com/users/theweaselking/friends/
display anything but the aggregate total of all people marked as "friend".

I suppose I could add a second "friends" link to go directly to my "default reading" filter, but that doesn't seem to be what you mean,.

As soon as I said that, I found this:

If you create a custom friends group named "Default View", visiting your standard Friends page will display only entries from members of the "Default View" group. To see entries from all of your friends, you would need to visit http://www.livejournal.com/users/exampleusername/friends/?filter=0.

Personally, I prefer the "link sausage" type entries, where several links are concatenated into one. Certainly, with the volume you've been posting, it does make it harder to read through and make sure I've read everything everyone posts in a day. And I do try to do that.

That having been said, I've done similar things myself, so I don't have any right to say anything. *grin* Besides which, being the adaptable human being I am, I think I can manage to adjust to my "folks" page, whether it comes up with a lot of entries forcing me to backtrack several pages, or whether all new entries together barely add up to 1/2 a page.

I don't mind how you do it, but I appreciate that you do. This may scare you, but you are my main connection to the news and the outside world in general. Without your little snippets, I would have no IDEA what was going on out there!

On the other hand, I now have a fairly warped view of the world...

hehe...

I kinda like little tidbits spread throughout the day. It means that if no one else is posting, there's still some stuff to read. Usually interesting stuff, too.

I don't mind it as is, probably because I can check livejournal at work, and your posts are really easy to skip passed (since I know you won't care if I've read something or not) if I have less time for some reason.

I don't mind either way. It means that I usually can't comment each entry, but I don't think you care about that with the news entries.

Link sausages are good, but little tidbits are good too.

In conclusion, whatever floats your boat, I guess.

(I did notice the voume increase over the last few days, but I had actually liked it.)
