*blinks* I'd substitute "mealy-mouthed" for "pathetic", but that does seem to sum up the editorial.
Well, his US lecture tour is coming up. He's collecting his Congressional Medal soon; he can't be criticising state torture and the sort of detention without trial we got rid of in the 13th century.
struck me as particularly scathing.
(I am unlikely to give a balanced assessment at this point, as I just went looking for a picture of the man, and I'm having terrible terrible recollections of the Smiler. It's eerie, if undestandable.)
Carr has always been a top writer; he's tried blogging a few times, but doesn't seem to like the medium (last update Oct 18th). If I buy a paper, I buy the Indy, and the days he's in it are more likely to see me buy it, but these days I tend to stick to the 'net.
There's very little in there he hasn't written before, but it is a pretty good assemblage of some of his better themes.
