See, the absurd-sounding part is that the school suspended him for wearing a pirate outfit.

Admittedly, if he spent the whole class going "Arrr!" and "Shiver me timbers", I could see someone losing their patience. Still, it seems strange.

I'd like to see this pushed as far as it can. Either disruptive and powerfully silly beliefs get special treatment because they're religious, or they don't. Either they have to legitimize the Pastafarian faith, disallow any such ridiculousness regardless of religious origin, or draw a line between okay religions and not-okay religions. And any of those three is an amusing result.
